I'm not sure where I stand on using effects in Photoshop - until recently I've stuck to minor enhancements - exposure, colour correction, level tweaks, converting to black and white and removing small blemishes. Then I started messing with curves on portraits and loved the effect, as did my customers! Now I find my self wanting to experiment more, driven by the 366 shots other people are posting with fantastic effects. So occasionally I'm going to give it a go but will try not to fall into the trap of overdoing it. I think there's a risk that you can take a very average shot and then add effects just to disguise the fact that it is just average. Just like piling on the icing and decorations to hide a bad cake!
Today's shot is icing cutters for cakes - I was using them as stamps on an art project using ink. I liked the original shot (taken on a light box) but really liked the abstract effect of enhancing the edges.
